In 2013, my life took a dramatic turn, when I became a Caregiver for an extraordinary woman I call my mother. Her married name was Karolina Andrejczuk (nee Pankewycz). She came into this world on February 20,1924 and her story isn’t one of glamour or fluff. It’s about courage, strength, and having the ability to Love through all adversity and pain. Karolina Andrejczuk is not a household name, or in the public eye, but her ability to succeed and overcome, deserves similar recognition. The name Karolina Andrejczuk will forever be engraved on my heart for her love and commitment to her Family. She is, in every sense of the word, a Survivor. Her life is not an easy one, it rarely was. It is a hard one, but she always and unconditionally strives and manages to make it a good one. She does not allow herself to feel entrapped or enslaved by life’s challenges. She is my idol. My first love. Karolina may be a simple folk to many, but to me she is a true heroine. “A true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart.” – Hercules
